I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning. – J.B. Priestly
Hello & welcome 🙂
Somehow you found your way to my blog and if you are anything like me, you will want to know more about the blog’s creator which, surprise surprise, is me 🙂
I am a 27 year old German native, who moved to the land of hobbits, dwarfs & elves in January 2017. It says “Julia” in my passport but the majority of people just call me Ju, which I much prefer! I am a student at Massey University in Palmerston North, doing a diploma in Communication.
I grew up in a family of book worms and in time I realized that my love for reading has awakened an desire for writing. Self-expression, channeling creativity, connecting with others… Through the process of writing I could do all those things and it felt fantastic 🙂
I want this blog to be a collection of thoughts and anecdotes about
- my life as a a dog mum
I am a dog mum to two Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Although they are currently with my family in Germany I still think about them everyday. In the hopefully not to far away future, I will have them flown over but even until then, I have plenty of material on dog-related topics and can’t wait to share them with you.
- mental health issues in general and how they affect(ed) me
Although it’s already much more talked about than a few years ago, mental health is still perceived by many as a “taboo” topic. Things like suicide and self-harm are not to be talked about and I ask myself, why? Keeping silent just makes people feel more alone. I have gone through years of depression and I suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder but I have found a way to deal with them. I want to share my experiences and my thoughts about this for two reasons. 1) writing about it is therapeutic for me and 2) I believe that by sharing and spreading the word, we can help make the world a better place (yes, I have a tendency to be idealistic) 🙂
- food & recipes
I love to cook. I’m not very good at it but I try it anyway. Some things go horribly wrong, some things turn out rather well. And I wanna share my failures, my pleasant surprises, my favorite take-outs and restaurant orders, my everything-food-related with you! I am no nutritionist, no cook, no baker, no nothing. I’m just your average girl, experimenting with kitchen utensils and whatever ingredient the kitchen cupboard and fridge provide.
- everyday life antics
I feel like life in New Zealand gives me something to write about nearly everyday. Maybe not specifically related to one of my three main interests but for me, there is always something worth scribbling down.
My writing style is very much like me. Emotional, straight from the heart and maybe at points too honest. My blog posts may or may not float your boat, but you managed to make it all the way down here without dozing off 🙂
Thank you for dropping by,
let’s get blogging 🙂
Have a read through my 10 Things lists, to get to know me a little better…
